David has published numerous books and academic articles on the New Testament, Second Temple Judaism, Messianic Jews and Jewish-Christian intermarriage. In 2008, David joined the faculty of Messianic Jewish Theological Institute (MJTI) as an assistant professor of Bible and Theology. He chairs the Theology Committee of the Union of Messianic Jewish Congregations (UMJC) and serves as scholar-in-residence at Ahavat Zion Messianic Synagogue in Beverly Hills. David has a Ph.D. in New Testament from Cambridge University (England) as well as graduate degrees in Hebrew Bible and Biblical Languages from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. David and his wife Harumi have been intermarried for over 20 years and have three daughters - Hana, Elisa and Miryam.
